Same Gender Marriages
Effective January 1, 2010 a marriage license may be obtained
from any town or city clerk in New Hampshire regardless of where you live.
Once you obtain the license, you may be joined anywhere in New Hampshire.
Both person A and person B must appear in person to fill in the marriage worksheet. Please bring proof of identification and age (birth
certificate, driverŐs license). If you were married before, you must present a certified
copy of your divorce or dissolution decree or death certificate, whichever is
applicable.
There is no longer a waiting period before you can be joined in
the State of New Hampshire. You may be united the day you get the
license. There is no blood work required. Helpful hint: know
the state or country of birth for your parents.
If you need a certified copy of your marriage license, you may
request a copy in person or by providing the following information in writing:
Name
of Person A
Name
of Person B
Date
of Marriage
Place
of Marriage
Purpose
for which the certificate is needed
If requesting the copy by mail, you will also need to send a
photocopy of your picture ID, such as a driverŐs license or government issued
ID. If you are requesting a record for someone other than yourself, you
will need to state your relationship to the person whose record you want.
New Hampshire law requires that a nonrefundable search fee of
$12.00 be collected for each record requested. This search fee also
covers the certified record cost for the first certified copy. Additional
certified copies of the same record, ordered at the same time, are available
for $8.00 each. Please make checks payable to the ŇHaverhill Town Clerk.Ó
