Advisory Budget Committee Minutes

Wednesday December 28, 2009

PRESENT: Committee Members: Scott Simano, Howard Hatch, Dick McDanolds, Barbara Dutile, Dick Fabrizio, Wayne Fortier, Peter Conrad, Bruce Simonds and Mike Conrad; Larry Corey and Eleanor Ingbretson were excused; Selectboard members: Rick Ladd and David Joslin; Town Manager Glenn English; Administrative Assistant Jo Lacaillade; Edith Celley, Mark Chain, Harry Haskins, Winston Currier, Gerry Lyons, Jim Fortier, Dick Guy, Leslie Ramsay and Linda Smith.

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm.

Alumni Hall: There was a lengthy discussion regarding number of visitors to the center; programs, other funding received; fund raising and details of where budget figures were derived from; future Town funding of the hall and it’s placement within the budget. Mike Conrad made a motion to approve the budget ($15,000) as presented; seconded by Wayne Fortier and all voted in favor except Dick McDanolds who abstained.

General Assistance: Leslie Ramsay presented the committee with information regarding clients served and resources that she works with. There was a brief discussion about the welfare issues of the community. Bruce Simonds made a motion to approve the budget ($89,872) as presented; seconded by Barb Dutile and carried unanimously.

Animal Control: Linda Smith was present to answer questions. Peter Conrad made a motion to approve the budget ($23,448) as presented; the motion was seconded by Barbara Dutile and carried unanimously.

Airport: There was a lengthy discussion about the construction of the new hangar; the furnace in the rental; mowing and plowing; and future plans of the airport and NPIAS. Peter Conrad made a motion to approve the budget ($65,026) as presented; seconded by Wayne Fortier. Voting yes was Barb Dutile, Peter Conrad, Dick Fabrizio, Bruce Simonds, Scott Simano and Dick McDanolds; abstaining was Wayne Fortier, Mike Conrad and Howard Hatch. With a majority voting yes, the budget passed.

Mike Conrad made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Barb Dutile and carried unanimously.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:52 pm.
